"Men - abandon pride and envy, and let your sisters have an equal access to education and tutoring ... and the new generation of women will spare no labor and energy to contribute their share to progress."
The_Beguines_
Adult women during the Middle Ages were expected to live under the guardianship of a man, either as a wife and mother, or dedicated to the Church and living in a convent as a nun. The Beguines questioned this concept and lived outside of these set boundaries.

Interview_with_Marcia_Tucker_2006
Interview with Marcia Tucker, an American art historian, art critic and curator. In 1977 she founded the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City, a museum dedicated to innovative practices in both the art it displayed and the way in which the museum was run.
She made the New Museum, which she ran for 22 years as director, in her own image: a somewhat chaotic, idealistic place where the nature of art was always in question, exhibitions were a form of consciousness raising and mistakes were inevitable. She also wanted the museum to welcome art that was excluded elsewhere because it was difficult, out of fashion, un-salable or made by artists who were not white or male or straight.
_Fully_Awake_Black_Mountain_College
Fully Awake: Black Mountain College is a documentary film that explores the college's progressive pedagogy and radical approach to education. Highly democratic and faculty-owned, the school promoted practical responsibilities and the creative arts as equally important components to intellectual development.
